Your old Gameboy might be worth ₤ 22,000 as rate of classic video gaming tech skyrockets
The rising value of classic gaming consoles has given players a nice nest egg, but they might be worth more than a down payment on a house in the future.
The Game Boy, one of Nintendo’s most iconic systems, is today worth a small sum in pristine condition.
Back in the day, this portable system was one of the first truly affordable ways to play video games; today, it can fetch hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

It’s bound to be worth a tidy sum by the time all the years have passed, thanks to the exponential appreciation in value of retro gaming consoles.
According to a study by Bitcoin Casinos, the value of a brand-new, sealed Nintendo Gameboy is expected to rise by around 191.7% every year until 2028, at which point it might be worth as much as 22,000 ($27,768).
If the value of a Nintendo GameCube has increased by more than six times since its inception in 2001, a brand-new, factory-sealed copy in 2028 may fetch $7,976.
In 2028, the following classic consoles are predicted to be worth quite a penny if they are in immaculate condition:
- Atari 2600 (₤ 5254.72 up from existing ₤ 957.84)
- Sega Game Gear (₤ 3191.81 up from present ₤ 581.37
- Video Game Boy Advance (₤ 2072.52 up from present ₤ 363.65)
- Sega 32X (₤ 2001.90 up from existing ₤ 380.64)

- Nintendo 64 (₤ 2338.90 up from present ₤ 445.54)

If you have any outdated technology collecting dust in the attic, you may be sitting on a jackpot.
Mark Jasiewicz, a collector from the United Kingdom, has amassed a collection of 19 video gaming systems and thousands of games spanning the decades from the 1970s to the 2010s.
The expense of computer games is rising steadily, Mark told the Star in 2015. Things I bought even only four years ago are now worth more than I paid for them.
I don’t think you’d lose any money and you’d have a wonderful experience to boot.
