Summer Seasons Games Done Quick 2023 begins this weekend
Running quick for a great cause
What better way to celebrate the arrival of summer than with SGDQ? This coming Sunday marks the start of Summertimes Games Done Quick 2023, which will feature a number of speedrunning displays created between May 28 through June 4.
This year’s SGDQ 2023 will begin at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET and continue continuously through June 4 for 24 hours. The speedrunning event will continue to stream on the GDQ Twitch channel.
If you are unfamiliar with the concept, Games Done Quick is a company that organises speedrunning exhibitions that raise money for different causes. Gamers will demonstrate the absolute fastest playthroughs of video games, utilising obstacles, strategies, and speed to reach their goal as soon as they can. Additionally, several classifications mandate intriguing, non-conventional goals. While “Any%” can simply mean watching the credits roll, different classes provide the runner unique and varied challenges.
GDQ week is typically a week of fun events and good runs, and this particular occasion will return. Due to Florida’s stances on COVID-19 rules and “increased hostility” towards LGBTQ+ persons, SGDQ’s equivalent, Awesome Games Done Quick 2023, postponed its in-person event and instead browsed the internet.
Sincerably, this year has seen no shortage of spectacular runs. When I looked at the itinerary for today, I was a little taken aback by how jam-packed it seemed. If you’re looking for criteria, I’ve taken the run classification and runner(s) from the schedule below and highlighted them.
