A Newzoo analysis shows that Warner Bros. Games’ “Hogwarts Legacy” was the highest-grossing title in the United States and the United Kingdom across PC and consoles for all of the first quarter.
Hogwarts Legacy was “without a doubt” the best-selling PC game in the quarter, according to market research firm NPD Group. The PC markets in both countries saw sales of Sons of the Forest and Valorant behind the sales of the Harry Potter RPG.
The best-selling PlayStation and Xbox videogames in the United States and the United Kingdom were nearly identical.
In terms of revenue generated from UK customers, FIFA 23, Hogwarts: The Legacy, and Fortnite were the top three. In a similar vein, the best-selling games in the United States were Hogwarts Legacy, NBA 2K23, and Fortnite.
According to Newzoo, “United States gamers invested more on first-party Nintendo video games,” while “UK gamers displayed more varied costs habits across various titles, categories, and publishers,” in the first quarter of 2018.
Metroid Prime: Remastered, Mario Kart 8, and Fortnite were the best-selling Switch games in the United States in 2018. Fortnite, Metroid Prime: Remastered, and Disney Dreamlight Valley topped the UK sales charts.
