Nintendo has been clean about its decision to limit the eShop’s availability in Russia.
The effective date of the changes was May 31.
Customers in Russia who already have a Nintendo Account will soon be able to redownload digital content they’ve purchased in the past. The gaming firm announced that new Nintendo Accounts cannot be created with Russia as the country of residence.
Credit card and PayPal account information will also be deleted for safety reasons.
With the confirmation that Yasha Haddaji is no longer Nintendo’s CEO of its Russian division comes the announcement that the eShop would be scaling back.
Nintendo ceased operations in Russia in 2022, when sales were discontinued.
