Mortal Kombat 2 is surrounding its Johnny Cage.
Urban, on the other hand, is not a newcomer to such massive enterprises. He has starred in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the 2009-2016 Star Trek films, the Chronicles of Riddick series, and Thor: Ragnarok, and is now starring in Prime Video’s superhero parody The Boys, on which filming on Season 4 began last month.
Urban’s other credits consist of Dredd, Doom, The Bourne Supremacy, Red, and The Sea Beast.
Mortal Kombat 2 will be directed by Simon McQuoid from a script written by Jeremy Slater. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the original Mortal Kombat was released simultaneously in theatres and on HBO Max (now known simply as Max).
Business Insider claims that among the films Dune, Godzilla vs. Kong, The Suicide Squad, and The Matrix Resurrections, Mortal Kombat was the most watched on HBO Max’s simultaneous theatrical and streaming releases in 2021.
