Friday the 13th: The Game will be pulled from sale when license ends in December
Due to an unfavourable licencing offer, Friday the 13th: The Game is being taken off the market.
On December 31, 2023, the game will be taken off store shelves and digital platforms, however it will remain playable until at least December 31, 2024.
In a statement shared across social media, publisher Gun Interactive explained it has no choice but to stop selling the game once its licence expires at the end of the year.
The time is now, as it were. On December31, 2023, our Friday the 13th licence will expire. The company has stated that as of the aforementioned date, both physical and digital copies of Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available for purchase.

However, if you already possess the game, it will remain playable until at least December 31, 2024. We have reduced the price to $4.99 for the main game and $0.99 for each additional content pack for the time being. We shall keep using the title and the content until it is no longer available in any format.
Observing the 13th on a Friday: Due to a licencing dispute, Gun Interactive cancelled its DLC plans in 2018, and the company plans to completely end support for the game in November 2020. The game originally published in May 2017.
The company implied at the time that the development team had been put on hold because of the dispute and that they could not “keep developing material that might never see the light of day.”
