Today, GEC.inc announced on Twitter that the Doom 2 RPG has been transferred to PC. Released in early 2010 for the iPhone and iPod Touch, Doom 2 is a role-playing video game that takes place a year after the events of the original game. Two local Marines and a scientist examine a demon-infested research facility on the moon of Earth.
In a franchise known for hectic first-person shooting and a lot of bloody demon-slaying hijinks, Doom 1 and 2 RPG stand apart. The Doom RPG series, on the other hand, is set in the first-person perspective and employs turn-based RPG elements.
Doom 2 RPG may have a store listing, but it is not compatible with the iOS versions currently in use. You can’t even find the game if you check for it on the App Store. The online store page makes a note that it requires macOS 11.0 and an Apple CPU like the M1 chip in order to function.
Doom 2 RPG’s battles “come quick and furious but are paced well with story sectors and puzzle play,” as IGN’s Levi Buchanan noted in our original review (in which we gave the game a score of 8).
The PC port of Doom 2 RPG is available on DoomWorld for free, and GEC.inc has confirmed that it works with touchscreens much like the original game and supports gamepads like the Xbox wireless controller.
