A game that is delayed is always good in the end, but one that is played under pressure is usually terrible. There is no such thing as a terrible video game anymore; we need to reevaluate our expectations for games like Cyberpunk 2077.

Tam and Lucy got their hands on Cyberpunk 2077’s next expansion, Phantom Liberty, at this year’s Summer Game Fest, but they soon discovered that CD Projekt Red had made huge changes to nearly every aspect of the open-world RPG’s gameplay since their last hands-on session. Despite a shaky beginning, interest in Cyberpunk 2077 has been rekindled because to patches that have increased the game’s performance and free downloadable content that allows it to connect to Netflix’s Edgerunners series. Cyberpunk 2077 has undergone a major reworking of its mechanics, and as a result, many players are once again excited to visit Night City.

In this episode of Spot On, Tam and Lucy debate whether or not to give video games with poor initial sales a second chance, and they discuss games with similar second-chance narratives, such as No Man’s Sky, Final Fantasy XIV, and GTA Online. They discuss the scenarios in which continuing business relations with a title could be beneficial, as well as those in which it would be best to cut ties and move on.

GameSpot’s handling editor Tamoor Hussain and senior manufacturer Lucy James discuss the week’s biggest stories in video games on their weekly news show, Area On, which airs every Friday. There is always something to talk about in the highly dynamic and nonstop news cycle of the massive computer game market; nevertheless, unlike many other news programmes, Spot On will focus in-depth on a specific issue rather than assessing all the news. On Fridays, tune in to Area On.
