CoD: Modern Warfare 2
Activision has revealed the full schedule for the June 14 launch of Modern Warfare 2 Season 4. The additional multiplayer content includes a new combat pass, several new maps, a local event, and the conclusion to the story-based Raids mode introduced in Modern Warfare 2.
New weapons and operator
The fourth season adds four new weapons to the game. Both the Tempus Razorback assault rifle and the ISO 45 submachine gun are included in the fight pass and can be unlocked at no cost.
The Tonfa melee weapon and a new shotgun will be added to Modern Warfare 2 later in the season and can be unlocked by completing challenges or purchasing a package from the game’s online store.
There are also five new operators this season, including the return of Nikto from Modern Warfare 2019. Packages including Ana Vega, Izanami, and Butch will be available, with Nikto serving as the fight pass operator. Another premium combat pass from Blackcell is being released, and the new network included is called Io.
Attack on Vondel occasion
The new Vondel map in Warzone 2 is the inspiration for Season 4, and the game will feature an Assault on Vondel event from June 14 to July 7. This new community event features challenges that players can take part in to earn medals towards both personal and community unlock goals. The brand-new Tonfa melee weapon, introduced in Season 4, will be part of the community rewards.
More video game mode variations
Previously, 10v10 was a temporary game mode, but developer Infinity Ward announced on Twitter that it will be sticking around and become an option in the quickplay menu for Season 4. Some of the modes in Modern Warfare 2 that don’t include respawns will also be getting expanded music selections. In Season 4, both Search and Destroy and Prisoner Rescue will feature 12v12 iterations. There will still be plenty of 6v6 options, but the 12v12 variants will have their own featured playlist.
A number of maps are coming
Six multiplayer maps will be available at the start. Showdown, originally featured in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, returns, along with new basic map Kunstenaar, Gunfight maps Mercado and Penthouse, and the Al Mazrah map’s Mawizeh Marshlands and Ahkdar Village points of interest (POIs), which become fight maps for Ground War modes.
Another season-midway basic core map is also in the works. Vondel Waterfront will be a map showing the adrift houses in a waterfront environment.
Raid ending
Activision had previously stated that each season of Modern Warfare 2 would feature a new Raid episode, but has now confirmed that Season 4 will include the last episode. In a press release dated before [REDACTED], Activision said, “Prepare your trio for the interesting conclusion to the Raid series.” Although this will tie up loose ends in Modern Warfare 2’s post-launch narrative, it does hint that a new event or Raid-like episode may pop up in the fifth and final season, teasing what’s to come in Call of Duty’s new 2023 release.
New Ranked Play season rewards
