- It appears that the Bat and the Cat are at odds once more. The next installment of DC’s ongoing Dawn of DC event has been announced, and it looks like Batman and Catwoman’s already rocky relationship is about to get even worse. Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War sees Selina Kyle take on the role of crime boss, motivating the frequently allies/occasionally rivals to wage war against one another.
The event will begin with a special one-shot before moving on to the main Batman and Catwoman solo books, as well as a set of two-issue miniseries, The Gotham War: Red Hood and The Gotham War: Scorched Earth. The story is written by Chip Zdarsky and Tini Howard, with art by Mike Hawthorne and Adriano Di Benedetto.
After the line-spanning Knight Terrors legend from July and August, this new Dawn of DC event will come right after Knight Terrors: Batman # 2, written by Joshua Williamson and Trevor Hairsine.

“A collaborative effort in Gotham City has resulted in a decrease in violent criminal offence, but at what cost?” reads the news release from DC. Under a brand-new programme, bad guys spread as their lives begin to fall apart. One name comes to Batman’s thoughts as he recovers from his illustrious battle with the Multiverse and the terrifying Knight Terrors. Catwoman is the driving force behind this brand-new, far safer Gotham.
Here is a complete list of the comic books that will take part in The Gotham War, along with the covers for the second and third halves of the story, Batman # 137 and Catwoman # 57, respectively.

- Catwoman # 57 and # 58

DC’s main Batman and Catwoman titles are now written by Chip Zdarsky and Tini Howard, respectively. The opportunity to discuss changing the status quo in Gotham City arose from this crossover.
In a statement, Zdarsky said, “Tini and I knew we had a big chance to build towards something that would shock the class structure of Gotham City from the minute we began dealing with these titles.” “The Gotham War is just that: relationships take off, relationships form, and everything leads to huge changes! It has actually been very interesting to be able to do such large swings together.
In addition, he hinted that things would soon become extremely tense in Gotham due to Selina’s recent prison break and Bruce’s conflicts with Zur-En-Arrh.
Tini Howard stated that “team-ups are the lifeblood of comics.” “All of my favourite stories have two powerful characters and the space between them, whether it’s a team of developers or a courageous cooperation. The world’s largest investigator and the world’s largest crook are involved in one of comics’ biggest romances on the page. They both enjoy Gotham City, too. Real love never has and never will follow a smooth path.
In order to show how The Gotham War fits with other recent Dawn of DC events, starting with Lazarus Planet and going into Knight Terrors, DC has also released the timeline graphic (above). The summer is undoubtedly shaping up to be crazy.
DC Comics will publish Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War – Battle Lines # 1 on August 29.
