Street Fighter 6 Open Beta Coming Later This Month, Will Feature 8 Characters
Fans of Street Fighter may have thought that, after two closed beta testing and the recently released demonstration, all possibilities to play the upcoming installment before its June 2 release date were passed. Unexpectedly, Capcom has announced a Street Fighter 6 open beta test for the week of May 19-21.
The second closed beta test was held the week of December 16-19, just before the holidays, and all of the data from that test will be included in the open beta. The Battle Hub, Street Fighter 6’s online lobby, was the primary focus of the evaluation. Here, players may customise their fighters, challenge one another to bouts, and even play classic Capcom titles on virtual gaming cabinets.
The roster for the open beta will mirror that of the second closed beta test, with the following playable characters available:
- Ryu
- Guile
- Ken
- Chun-Li
- Juri
- Luke
- Jamie
- Kimberly
The unexpected open beta comes on the heels of the release of the Street Fighter 6 Demo Version, which gave players a taste of the game’s World Tour story mode. Created characters in the trial will carry over to the full game when it launches next month, but those made outside the beta will not.
On June 2, 2018, Street Fighter 6 will be available on the Xbox One S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Beginning on May 19, the open beta test will be made freely downloadable on all launch platforms excluding PlayStation 4.
